Dockers strike in eastern US – Fears of product shortages and billions of dollars in losses

Dock workers along the US East Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico went on strike today, disrupting the flow of about half of the nation’s seaborne trade, after negotiations for a new labor contract failed to meet wage demands. The strike is blocking everything from food to vehicles at dozens of ports from Maine to Texas in a strike that analysts warn will cost the economy billions of dollars each day and fuel inflation.
