Doctor from ES dies during humanitarian mission in Rio Grande do Sul

Doctor Leandro Medice, 41 years old, who left the city of Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo, last Sunday (12), to help victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, suffered a sudden illness and died in the early hours of this Monday- fair (13), in a shelter in the city of São Leopoldo.

In a post on social media, the clinic where the doctor worked confirmed the information. “We hereby announce that in the early hours of this Monday, 13/05/24, our beloved Dr. Leandro passed away, victim of a sudden illness”, says an excerpt from the publication.

Last Sunday, Leandro published a post announcing his trip to the city of São Leopoldo on a humanitarian mission to help provide medical care to the population of Rio Grande do Sul. “The south needs us, so we got out of our routine and our office comfort a little bit,” he said.

Already at the shelter, the doctor published another video in which he reported the vulnerable situation of the population affected by the floods that hit 447 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, including São Leopoldo.

There is still no information on how the family will proceed with the body procedures. “Leandro was in RS on the humanitarian mission for flood victims since yesterday (Sunday). Soon, we will bring more details about the wake and burial”, concludes the clinic’s publication.
