Does Nvidia downgrade older graphics cards with modern drivers? Testing GeForce GTX 1060 gives the answer

What is this video card capable of in 2022 and has Nvidia reduced its performance with new drivers in favor of more modern models? These are the questions that the latest testing of the Testing Games channel answers.

They took a GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of memory and tested its capabilities on the latest driver and on a seven-year-old driver.

As you can see, there is no talk of any decrease in performance over the years. The only exception is Minecraft, where for some reason the result with the new driver is noticeably worse than with the old one, but in both cases the performance is in the range of about 200 fps, so this is not a problem.

In other games, the performance either remained practically unchanged, or increased, and sometimes noticeably. For example, in Dying Light 2, the indicator increased from an unplayable 20-25 fps to a normal 35-40 fps.

In terms of absolute performance, the GTX 1060 is quite capable of handling many of today’s games in Full HD at high or even maximum graphics quality settings.
