The dog Joca, a 4-year-old golden retriever, was returned dead to his owner, this Monday (22), by employees of the airline that transported the animal.
According to information from GOL Linhas Aéreas, the dog should have gone yesterday from Guarulhos to Sinop airport, in Mato Grosso, where it would meet its owner, but ended up being transported to Fortaleza, in Ceará, due to what the company defined as an operational failure. .
After being informed of the error, when he disembarked in Sinop, Joca's guardian, engineer João Fantazzini, chose to return to Guarulhos Airport to meet the little animal, who was later placed on an aircraft in the capital of Ceará bound for São Paulo. .
Airline employees recorded images of the animal upon boarding, which would have been sent to the passenger.
Also according to GOL, after landing at Guarulhos Airport, the company's employees were “surprised by the death of the animal”.
On social media, João Fantazzini held the airline responsible for what happened. “You are the love of my life, my best choice”, wrote the owner in a post in honor of the dog.
In a statement, GOL informed that it deeply regrets what happened and that it is offering all necessary support to the animal's owner. “The investigation of the details of what happened is being carried out with full priority by our team”, added the company.
