Dog is victim of kicks by owner and examination reveals fractured ribs

A man was caught kicking and holding a dog by the neck in the Solemar neighborhood, in the city of Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo.

On Tuesday afternoon (16) the animal was taken to a veterinary clinic in São Vicente and, after examinations, fractures were found in the ribs that made it difficult for the animal to breathe. The dog was treated and released the same day.

Via social media, veterinarian Gustavo Palmieri, secretary of health and animal welfare of São Vicente, reported that the animal, named Whindersson, was sent to the Instituto Eu Luto Pelos Animais, where it was welcomed.

State deputy Rafael Saraiva (União Brasil) accompanied the Civil Police in the search to arrest the tutor and published the images on a social network. “That unfortunate person who did this to this dog will not go unpunished, I will go all the way to put him in jail!”, wrote the deputy.

According to the parliamentarian, neighbors and the building's doorman informed the team that the animal's cries were “sensitive” and “weak”.

Aggression to the animal

Security circuit images that went viral on the internet show the dog in the hall of a building. Moments later the owner appears and launches the first kick at the animal, which becomes frightened.

Cornered, the animal tries to get away from its owner, but is kicked three more times. In the last video, the dog is thrown onto a staircase.

At this moment, the owner holds the dog by the neck while waiting for the elevator to arrive. Minutes later the elevator arrives and the man enters.

The crime of mistreating dogs and cats is provided for in Brazilian legislation and the penalty varies between 2 and 5 years in prison, in addition to a fine and loss of custody of the animal.
