Dogecoin celebrates its 10th anniversary

On December 6, 2013, programmers Billy Marcus and Jackson Palmer introduced Dogecoin, a meme cryptocurrency. In December 2023, the token turned 10 years old.

The Dogecoin project was created as a joke alternative to other crypto assets such as Bitcoin. In just a month from the date of launch on website about 1 million users switched.

The symbol of DOGE was a photograph of a Shiba Inu dog named Kabosu, who lives in Japan. In April 2023, memcoin fans announced that they were planning to make a full-length film about the life of a dog. In the fall, a monument to the DOGE symbol was unveiled in the Japanese city of Sakura.

In 2021, billionaire Elon Musk drew attention to the token. He repeatedly mentioned it in his publications on the social network X (formerly Twitter), which contributed to the growth of memcoin.

Later, Musk spoke about the risks of investing in Dogecoin and warned users against investing in this cryptocurrency. Meanwhile, some experts believe that the owner of X secretly financed the development of the project.

In honor of the tenth anniversary, Dogecoin fans decided to organize a virtual party:

Following the news, the price of Dogecoin rose sharply, breaking through the $0.08 resistance. At the moment, the value of the asset approached $0.107, but then it fell below $0.10. At the time of writing, DOGE is trading near $0.099, according to TradingView.

Historically, the Dogecoin price mostly fell between December 6 and December 7, but the asset showed growth in 2023. Positive trends in the crypto market are associated with the growth of Bitcoin, which “broke the ceiling” at $44,000.
