Dogecoin may fall under the attack 51%

Ilon’s favorite cryptocurrency Dogecoin (Doge) can be a victim of an attack of 51%. The fact is that the cryptocurrency network chose the QUIBIC pool, who had previously managed to successfully attack the most capitalized Monero anonymous cryptocurrency.

The fact that Dogecoin could become a new victim of an attack by 51% Quibic was announced by the founder of the project Sergey Ivanchelo, better known under the pseudonym Come-From-Byyond. In his X, he launched a vote, the purpose of which was to choose the next network. Most pool users voted for DOGE.

The founder of QBIC Sergey Ivanchello invited his supporters to decide which blockchain with the Proof-OF -work algorithm to direct efforts after attacking Monero. There were three options: Dogecoin, Kaspa and Zcash.

The results were unequivocal: more than 300 people voted for Dogecoin – more than for all other networks combined.

“The community has chosen Dogecoin,” Ivanchelo wrote to X, summing up the voting results.

Recall that only a few days ago Qubic managed to obtain control over most of the Monero network computing power. The mining pool dominated the hash-shaft and was even able to reorganize six blocks. For many participants in the cryptorrhist, this was a surprise. The fact is that many considered Monero one of the most protected private coins.

The news immediately hit the trust in XMR. During the attack, the coin sank by more than 40%. Some large crypto -tanks, including Kraken, temporarily frozen Monero deposits.

The transition of Qubic from Monero to Dogecoin may be a significant event. DOGE is not just a memcoin, but one of the largest Pow networks. If Qubic manages to repeat the attack, confidence in the whole class of cryptocurrencies based on Pow-Mining will be blown up.

While the Dogecoin community is silent, but discussions in social networks are already boiling. For some, this is a threat to security, for others-a kind of stress test: whether the network can withstand such a challenge.

Ivankiglo himself claims that we are not talking about an attack. According to him, miners will simply switch to DOGE production. He also draws attention to the fact that reprofiling the pool will take a lot of time. At the same time, the Creator of Quibic prefers not to focus on the transfer of a large volume of computing power to the Dogecoin network can open his path to an attack of 51%, as happened with Monero.

Earlier on the network, there were also reports that the new goal of Quibic could be ZCASH cryptocurrency. Sergei Ivankiglo did not confirm this information.
