In early February, Elon Musk posted a series of tweets about Dogecoin, as a result of which it grew a lot. Against this background, cryptocurrency developers have become more active.
Dogecoin lead developer Ross Nicoll has not published new code on the project on Github since October 2019, but has made several commits at once over the past two weeks. Now the whole team is working on updating the DOGE wallet, the last major release of which was released back in June 2019.
“People say that our cryptocurrency is just a joke, but we are very responsible with the code. The rise in the rate has drawn a lot of attention to the coin and we want to keep it working, ”Nicoll wrote.
One of the challenges Dogecoin faced was the scaling issue. The fact is that with the default settings, the host does not accept incoming connections, but only performs outgoing connections. This led to the fact that the network topology turned out to be incorrect – hundreds of nodes have a one-way connection to the network, which causes problems with the synchronization of wallets. Now the developers are trying to solve the problem.
Dogecoin code, as a fork of Litecoin, is based on Bitcoin Core, the development of which has gone far ahead over the past time. The developers are preparing a new version, and for this they will have to review and implement the Bitcoin Core 0.21 code in the upcoming version of the Dogecoin client.
“Safety is our priority. I will not promise that a new slowdown in development is excluded, but we always look after security problems and ensure their solution, ”the lead developer assured.
Recall that on February 4, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted messages on Twitter about the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. As a result, in just a week, the coin rate has grown by more than 300%. DOGE is currently trading at $ 0.70.
