Doja Cat used eyelashes as a mustache, goatee and eyebrows

A few days after becoming a meme for covering ourselves in red crystals, Doja Cat debuted another striking look: false eyelashes such as eyebrows, mustaches and goatee. And she explained her look in an Ig story like this:

The musician walked the Viktor & Rolf Paris Fashion Week show in a structured pinstripe suit and frilled shirt, but it wasn’t her androgynous attire that caught the eye. Instead they are false eyelashesand feathers applied to the face in an unusual and innovative way, to recreate an old-fashioned masculine look that made headlines.

The move was met with amusement by fans, who commented on Doja’s Instagram post: “Well, here are the lashes you asked for, are you happy now?” Yes, very happy, thank you.

Doja Cat used a product designed and marketed for women – false eyelashes – to recreate a facial fuzz usually associated with men. The transformative power of make-up is transversal and here expressed to the nth degree. This effect looks significantly less time-consuming than Doja Cat’s previous look, which required the application of 30,000 Swarovski crystals. “Working with the incomparable talents of Doja Cat and Daniel Roseberry has been an absolute pleasure,” said legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath of the look created for her by Schiaparelli. “Her patience and dedication as she sat with me and Team Pat McGrath for four hours and 58 minutes to make that creation, covered in over 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals, was truly inspiring.”

Eyelashes as eyebrows and more, are a fun way to reinterpret the tools made available by makeup, a reading that no one had yet given.
