Dollar Tree shares rose 6.6% in pre-conference trading as a Wall Street Journal report said activist investor Mantle Ridge had acquired $ 1.8 billion in the retail company, and plans to move further to strengthen the share price.
Mantle Ridge will push for changes in the company’s Family Dollar chain, the publication said, citing sources familiar with the case.
The investor is working with Richard Dreiling, a former CEO of rival Dollar General Corp., who is believed to have helped his company recover in the early 2010s.
Plans may include the appointment of directors to the board. of the Dollar Tree when the one-month window in this direction opens on November 24.
