Dom and Bruno case: Police find the version presented in SP unlikely

Federal Police superintendent Eduardo Fontes says he does not completely believe the version of the crime described by Gabriel Pereira Dantas, 26, who claimed to have participated in the death of Brazilian indigenist Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips. THE CNN however, Fontes said he found the version “unbelievable”.

In the deposition of the alleged suspect, obtained by the CNN , Gabriel said he was from Manaus, but said he lived in Atalaia do Norte (AM). He claimed that Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira promised not to hand him over to the police “if the house falls”, and that Dom was the target of the crime out of jealousy.

“He shot and killed the skinniest ‘gringo’ [Dom] for the reason that he [Amarildo] said that he messed with his wife,” Gabriel told police.

About the reason for Bruno’s death, according to the testimony, Gabriel said that he “died for free” so as not to incriminate Amarildo.

Gabriel said that on the day of the crime he was drinking with Amarildo, known as Pelado, one of the suspects arrested for the crime, and received an invitation to pilot the vessel. Amarildo confessed, on June 15, to having participated in the murder of the duo.

Gabriel’s testimony is being analyzed by the Federal Police, which is currently investigating five suspects for the crime, of which three are in prison.
