Between February and March of this year, the price of air tickets to the national destinations most sought after by Brazilians rose by an average of 20%.
The most popular destinations in the country are Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Fortaleza, Recife and Salvador.
The increase was verified in a survey carried out by the Kayak flight search engine, at the request of CNN.
For reference, in São Paulo, tickets in March are, on average, 31% more expensive, with an average cost of R$1,021. For Rio de Janeiro, tickets are costing 30% more, on average at R$1,037.
International tickets have also been hit by rising prices. Tickets to the Netherlands rose 20%; for Miami, 15%; and for Lisbon, 13%.
Only tickets to Buenos Aires had a negative variation — that is, they became cheaper. The fall was 4% in March.
One of the reasons for this increase, according to experts, is the war between Russia and Ukraine, which creates pressure on fuel prices internationally, especially those used in aircraft.
In addition, according to data released by the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), obtained from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the demand for domestic flights, in February, registered a drop of 17% compared to the same period of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the international market, this demand dropped 47% when compared to 2019. The number of passengers transiting inside and outside the country also dropped significantly in the period.
