Dominic Fike Reveals Recordings of “Euphoria” Under the Effect of Drugs: “Very Bad”

At the age of 27, actor and musician Dominic Fike, of “Euphoria”, recently commented on how his drug use almost cost him his role in the 2nd season of the acclaimed HBO production.

In the plot, he plays Elliot, a drug user who perpetuates the relapse of Rue, played by Zendaya, and lives a love triangle with her and Jules, played by Hunter Schafer.

“I was a drug addict and ‘going to a show’ which is, you know, mostly about drugs, is really hard,” the artist told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, as reported by “People” magazine.

Fike also said that even with Sam Levinson, director and writer, getting a sober coach to be by his side at all times, the help didn’t work. “I was very upset”.

Asked if he had ever recorded while under the influence of drugs, Fike confirmed. “I was scolded for it. I almost, you know, got kicked off the show […] They said, ‘Bro, you can’t be doing this,'” he added.

Dominic said that Levinson ended up using some shots where he was really “high” and that it was still a “great scene”.

In 2022, Dominic also recalled to “GQ” magazine the not very positive experience during the auditions for the series.

After being approved in several stages, he was invited to take a chemistry test alongside Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat in the first two seasons.

Diving headlong into character, Fike decided to make use of mushrooms.

“The business hit well when Barbie and I were reading the text,” he said before commenting on the unexpected effects. He says he couldn’t read the script because the letters kept ‘dancing’ on the page and, looking at Levinson, he imagined him wearing a dress.

“I looked at him and said, ‘Are you wearing a dress right now?’ It was crazy. I started making fun of everyone in that room.”

“I was going through a lot at the time, quite addicted to a lot of drugs. Trying to make an album in the middle of all that, so much pressure, drugs, my family’s madness and me being really crazy, it was impossible”, he summarized.
