More than 180,000 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation have been deported from the Dominican Republic in the last six months, reported the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) on Tuesday (1st), as part of the expanded government control plan of the government.
From October 1, 2024 to March 31, 180,417 Haitians were repatriated, according to official data.

In 2024, the repatriations of Haitians without document reached 276,215, according to official figures.
In the first three months of 2025, the total accumulated until March 31 is 86,406 Haitians deported to the neighboring country.
Prior to deportation, all processed were recorded and validated through biometric equipment, clean according to individually established and evaluated protocols, with detailing each person’s profile, according to immigration.
The DGM indicated that the interdiction operations were carried out respecting human rights, the dignity of immigrants and according to the rules of international law and current democratic procedural law.
The agency reiterated that the measures are aligned with the migratory policies established in October 2024 by the Republic Defense and Security Council and President Luis Abinader.
These deportations occur amid a growing crisis in Haiti, marked by political collapse, extreme violence and a humanitarian crisis.
It is estimated that more than 80% of Porto Prince is under the control of armed gangs, while hunger and emigration continue to increase.
