“Don Matteo”: the last take by Terence Hill

«Twenty-two years, 13 seasons and 259 episodes. Thank you very much”. Letting go of a beloved character like Don Matteo must not have been easy for Terence Hill, who last September 18 shot the last scene that will see him in the role of the investigating priest who made Raiuno’s fortune for more than twenty years. In fact, since 7 January 2000, Hill, that is Mario Girotti, 82, has been touring the streets of the city center aboard that bicycle that has become his natural extension.

Now, however, it is really time to say goodbye: the fourth episode of the thirteenth season of the fiction that we will see in 2022 will unfortunately be the last in which we will see Don Matteo.

From the photographs published on social networks by the Municipality of Spoleto, location of the fiction, and by the experts, it is clear that they were very special days but, above all, full of gratitude. Don Matteo, in fact, will go on and, together with the inevitable Nino Frassica in the role of Marshal Nino Cecchini, we are now ready to pull down the welcome banners for the newcomer: Don Massimo, played by Raoul Bova. From the first information in our possession, it seems that the man decided to become a priest quite late, around the age of 40, and that he saw Don Matteo’s decision to designate him as his successor as a sign destined to change his life.

Unlike Don Matteo, however, Don Massimo does not like to move by bike, but on a roaring motorcycle which makes it undoubtedly one of a kind. The filming of the thirteenth season of the fiction produced by Lux Vide should end in the first half of October: the cast is very rich which, in addition to Frassica and Flavio Insinna, who returns to take on the role of Colonel Anceschi, will also see the return of Francesco Scali (Pippo), Maria Chiara Giannetta (captain Anna Olivieri), Nathalie Guetta (Natalina), Maurizio Lastrico (prosecutor Marco Nardi), Ines (Aurora Menenti) and Pietro Pulcini (the carabiniere Ghisoni).
