Before the interview, cryptocurrency players began placing bets on various prediction platforms, including Polymarket. The total pool of bets on cryptocurrency mentions during the conversation exceeded $850,000. Almost $500,000 were bet on the discussion of Bitcoin (BTC), and the probability of this reaching 70%.

In addition, more than $500,000 was bet on Trump mentioning Tesla. However, the politician skillfully avoided this term, calling Musk’s company’s products “your cars.”

“I’ve been listening to Elon and Trump for three hours and neither of them mentioned crypto,” wrote Bitcoin enthusiast naiive on X (formerly Twitter), accompanying the message with a GIF of a sad John Cena.

The lack of discussion of crypto was disappointing not only for the crypto community, which had been in anticipation all this time, but also for the memecoin sector. In the run-up to the interview, the MAGA (TRUMP) and MAGA (MAGA) coins dedicated to Trump rose. However, during the interview, they fell by 15.58% and 27.35%, respectively.

Still, many remain optimistic about Trump’s stance on cryptocurrencies.

“Trump didn’t say the words ‘bitcoin’ or ‘crypto’ tonight, and I think that’s fine. His campaign is clearly pro-crypto. That’s enough. Too much politics around bitcoin is distracting,” said the founder of the Botanix Labs project.

During the interview, Trump and Musk discussed a range of topics, including illegal immigration, the economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and global warming. The politician’s continued silence on crypto at such events reflects a cautious approach. He also remained silent on digital assets during the first presidential debate.

However, Trump still actively engages with the crypto industry, for example, he recently spoke at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, USA.

The US presidential candidate has secured significant support from crypto market leaders. But Kamala Harris is currently gaining popularity among cryptocurrency enthusiasts, already ahead of Trump in Polymarket polls.

Harris’s current chances of winning the election evaluate 52%, while Trump received 46%.
