US President Donald Trump today denied that he is considering firing the head of the Federal Bank (Fed) Jerome Powell, but leaving the possibility of his “bad job” open. Speaking to reporters, Trump again criticized Powell because he did not reduce interest rates, as he wishes, but said he focuses on his successor, “in eight months”. Powell’s term expires in May 2026. When asked if he excludes Powell’s dismissal, Trump replied: “I exclude anything but I think it is very unlikely, unless he has to leave because of fraud.” The Republican president referred to the investigation conducted on the cost of renovating the Fed Central Offices of $ 2.5 billion.
