The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that Senator Marco Rubio will be Secretary of State in his administration.
“Marco is a highly respected leader and a very powerful voice for freedom. He will be a strong defender of our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down from our adversaries,” Trump said in a statement.
“I look forward to working with Marco to make America and the world safe and great again!” he added.
Who is Marco Rubio?
Marco Rubio, 53, has experience in foreign policy and serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee.
Rubio was born in Florida, the son of Cuban immigrants and has aggressive positions regarding US foreign policy and its geopolitical adversaries, such as China, Iran and Cuba.
He spent more than ten years focused on defending the “China threat” theory, but the senator has softened some opinions to strengthen relations with Trump – who advocates that the US spend less on wars.
