Former President Donald Trump praised medical marijuana on Tuesday (3), ahead of a number of US states set to vote on the issue in the second half of the year.
Over the weekend, the Republican posted on Truth Social that he thought adults in Florida should not be arrested for possessing “personal amounts” of marijuana and that he thought the state’s ballot initiative on recreational marijuana use would pass.
When asked on the Lex Fridman Podcast about the post, Trump praised medical marijuana and said his statement was about how he thinks “we can live on marijuana” and that the Florida ballot initiative would be “very good.”
“Medical marijuana has been incredible. Friends, other people and doctors have told me it has been absolutely incredible, medical marijuana,” Trump said.
“You have to be a certain age, you have to be a certain age to buy it. It has to be done in a very coordinated and legal way. And the way they’re doing it in Florida, I think it’s going to be really good,” he added.
The former president also noted that his campaign will release a statement on marijuana-related rules later this week. CNN asked the campaign for more details about the possible announcement and is awaiting a response.
