The team of the popular password manager LastPass has launched new plans that radically change the terms of the free service.

If earlier users of free accounts were provided with free access from all types of devices, then from March 16, 2021, users will have to choose where to save LastPass – on computers or on mobile devices.
Starting today, if a user of the free version of LastPass selects mobile as their preferred device type, they can access LastPass passwords from Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, as well as smartwatches.
At the same time, free access to LastPass will become impossible from computers with Windows, macOS and Linux, including using browser extensions. On the other hand, a LastPass “computer” user will not be able to access the service for free on mobile devices.
The preferred device view is automatically set when the user logs into their LastPass account. In case you launched LastPass by mistake or change your mind, the service developers will allow you to change the selected device type three times.
Subsequently, switching from computer LastPass to mobile and vice versa will only be possible when switching to a paid subscription. Pricing for LastPass now starts at € 2.9 per month, plus there’s a free trial.
