After Do Kwon failed to leave Montenegro using fake documents, he was arrested. The businessman decided to appeal for an extension of his stay in custody. The court ruled after Doo Kwon was caught at Podgorica airport with forged documents while trying to fly to Dubai.

According to the laws of Montenegro, a suspect can be detained for 72 hours. However, for Do Kwon, the authorities extended the deadline by 30 days due to the high likelihood of his escape. The court explained that the detainee was a foreign national whose identity could not be positively identified. Before that, it was believed that the creator of the Terra project, which collapsed in 2022, was hiding from justice in Serbia.
