Today, March 25, developers from Valve have released a fairly large update for their MOBA Dota 2, which is almost entirely aimed at beginners. Firstly, now the project can boast of a full-fledged guide (video in English, but with subtitles) for a gamer who has just downloaded Dota 2 and does not yet know what kind of genre it is, what rules, what needs to be done, and stuff like that. The guide is divided into four sections – first, the player is explained the basic mechanics and offered to play the “Newbie Mode”, then they are taught various features and advanced tactics. Moreover, at the end of the guide there is a practical step with a rather detailed description of everything you need.

It is worth noting that for completing each section of the guide, the player receives a reward in the form of shards and sets for characters to go into battle with nice gifts. Secondly, along with the guide, the creators of the game presented a new mode created specifically for beginners – only new users will play there, the gameplay process is more gentle, the number of available characters to choose from is limited, and, most importantly, there is no punishment for an abandoned match. That is, a gamer can try a character, make a mistake and leave the game without fear of getting a temporary ban in order to start the battle from scratch.

Thirdly, now in Dota 2 there is a full-fledged “Wikipedia” with a description of everything that can only interest the player – a detailed glossary on mechanics, characters, items, and so on. The player will no longer need to search for information on third-party sites, since all the most important is already presented in the game client. Fourthly, in the process of the gameplay itself, the player will receive many tips, and recommendations for assembling items will appear in the in-game store. And for those who have just entered the game, we created a special chat so that you can find a friend for a match or ask a question.

In addition, the “Trainer” system has been improved – now each player with a decency level of 9 thousand and a rating of “Knight” or higher can view the list of games in order to connect to a new player and advise him something. At the same time, a beginner himself can request a trainer from the menu to get valuable advice from more experienced gamers. All this, according to Valve, should significantly lower the threshold for entering Dota 2, as well as improve the atmosphere of the project. For this, the creators of the multiplayer game even banned the Smurfs – new accounts for experienced players.
