Dozens need to be ‘resuscitated’ after riot at Halloween party in Seoul

Dozens of people in South Korea’s capital Seoul needed medical assistance after an incident during the city’s Halloween festivities, according to Yonhap news agency.

Yonhap reported that the people suffered “cardiac arrest”, attributing the information to firefighters, who needed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Emergency officials received at least 81 people in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood, reporting “difficulty breathing”.

Authorities have yet to provide exact details on the cause of the incident or the condition of the injured.

Police closed off the area in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood, and social media videos showed people lying in the streets.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol dispatched a medical assistance team for the Halloween incident in Itaewon, Seoul, according to the presidential office.

The president also ordered officials to secure emergency beds at nearby hospitals and implement rapid rescue and treatment operations, presidential spokesman Lee Jae-Myung said at a briefing.
