At least 30 people were arrested by Turkish police in downtown Istanbul today as they were trying to take part in the pride parade, which authorities banned in the context of repression for years of LGBTKI community events, one opposition politician said. Kezban Konuktzu, a MP from the pro -Kurdish DEM party who attended the march, told Reuters that at least 30 people were arrested. Police have not yet responded to a Reuters news agency request to comment on this. Earlier, the office of the Governor of Constantinople found the course illegal and said that organizations that promote the event are also illegally operating. Authorities have banned pride in Constantinople since 2015, citing public security concerns. Despite bans, small groups of activists continue to celebrate the week of pride every year. Source: RES
