After all the presentations and emotions of the third season debut, Drag Race Italy settles down – again on Paramount+ – with a quiet episode. Full of events and therefore too fast to give space to the two new judges, Paolo Camilli and Paola Iezzi (what a shame!) and the guest Alessandra Mastronardi.

Priscilla sucks in all the light with a golden presence on the main stage, while in the work room Chiara Francini turns heads in a mix of burlesque and Charleston (from rags to riches, in short, when she then indulged in the gesture of the umbrella during the judging of the queens).
After the farewell of Adriana Picasso, eliminated in the first episode, a dozen queens remain in the competition: Amy Krania, Aurora Lightning; La Prada, La Sheeva, Leila Yarn, Lina Galore, Melissa Bianchini, Morgana Cosmica, Silvana Della Magliana; Sissy Lea, Sypario and Vezirja.
The minichallenge

(SPOILER!) The minichallenge is a classic of adolescence, The chair game, in this case stool but it doesn’t make much difference, except for the C factor padding that the queens have to wear in 10 minutes of very quick preparation. The presenter, in director version, marks the times, but there is none: Sypario defeats the competition with a remarkable hip thrust and wins the first Ru Peter Badge of the season (and always, in Italian history, which so far has only seen themed pins appear), as well as an advantage in the maxchallenge. It is his honor/burden to form two teams to revisit Grease in a drag style, with the title Pink Queens.
The maxchallenge
Sypario chooses travel companions and they will call each other Drag with the vice: Sissy Lea, Lina Galore, Leila Yarn, La Prada and Amy Krania. The others are called Queens in love. The rules are clear: the top bet will be chosen from the winning team, while the two competitors at risk of elimination will battle from the losing team. Silvana della Magliana is chosen as captain of the second group and assigns herself the role of school principal.
The winner of the episode

Silvana della Magliana, let’s face it, saw us long, very long indeed, because she won the role of best of the weekalso thanks to an iconic and ironic version of Cher in the film Burlesque. But Priscilla specifies: she won the group Queens in lovebut if instead it had been the other one who had the upper hand then the title of best of the episode would have gone to Lina Galore. Meanwhile, Silvana della Magliana laughs it off: «I feel very wet – she says – but it’s not sweat». You have conquered and deserved a thousand euros, so you are granted (almost) everything.
In the workshop
Confidences continue between the queens and Melissa Bianchini confesses: “I haven’t had relationships with my family since I was 12.” She doesn’t go into details, she only mentions the bad things that brought her to Italy: «For four days upon my arrival – she adds – I slept in the station because I didn’t know where to go».
The runway: Cinema Iconic
The danger of transforming a dress into a costume and leading to Carnival is always around the corner with catwalks of this kind. Although not even this time there was a real “wow effect” (to be clear, like Farida Kant in the vampire version in the semi-final of the first season), Lina Galore deserves a standing ovation who re-proposed Psycho complete with a curtain, murderous hand and droplets of blood on one of the shoes. Many fashion shows were without infamy or praise (can you say “meh”?), while others left a discreet mark, like that of La Prada in a midnight blue helmet and Amy Krania/Kill Bill.
The criticism of Drag with the vice
The judgments were very quick and, as often happens, cryptic so that in a “peace and love” ecstasy it is not really clear who and why ends up at the bottom of the ranking. Sypario was praised by Chiara Francini (“you are majestic, funny and receptive”), who instead applauded Sissy Lea’s “la camurrìa”, a Sicilian term that is difficult to translate because it encapsulates a series of attitudes of pride and pride. For Priscilla «Leila Yarn is immature» (are we really sure?) while for Alessandra Mastronardi «Amy Krania is even better than the original» (and we can agree on this!). The (unmotivated) teasing continues at La Prada, which according to Chiara Francini is a bit “touchy”. Priscilla adjusts the shot by praising her self-irony, but she didn’t deserve the bottom in the first week, much less in this one because she was delightful.

The two skits put together by the contestants had few pretensions, but they still entertained and entertained, without ever falling into vulgarity (Vezirja dared and, as she has shown so far, it was a winning move that makes her give that something extra that is noticeable and which some call the X Factor). Maybe some queens had a minor or less impactful role, like Aurora Lightning, but they all brought home dignified and enjoyable work.
The verdict

Leila Yarn and Amy Krania compete to the tune of Lizzo, while Sissy Lea is saved (already ready to return to London, according to a hunch in the werk room). Leila Yarn wins (“I’m not going anywhere”), while Amy Krania is eliminated, who confessed to having only been doing drag for a few months. “It breaks my heart to leave this family – she said – I lived a dream and I’m just grateful for it.” The return to the werk room was glorious, in the Uma Thurman version, which made the farewell even more bitter because we see in her a budding talent with enormous potential.
