Draghi for meeting with Mitsotakis: We talked about possibilities for cooperation – Italy can learn a lot

In cooperation with Greece in the main tourism sector and in Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi reportedly had a recent meeting in Libya with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, answering a question from APE-MPE during a press conference organized in Rome.

In more detail, the Italian Prime Minister underlined:

“We talked about the possibility of cooperation. Italy can learn a lot: For example, Greece, like Spain, has already announced that it will welcome American tourists with digital passports. We have to do it too and we should do it right away, because the summer season is tomorrow. By looking at what others are doing, you learn a lot. As far as our cooperation is concerned, it is clear that Italy and Greece, as well as Spain, have common interests in the Mediterranean. This cooperation is also seen in the European Summits, where on these and other issues, we adopt common positions. This also happens without the need to have them prepared, without prior contacts. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in Libya for the reopening of the Greek embassy and we took the opportunity to have a brief meeting at the airport. We are always looking for such meeting opportunities “.

At the same time, during the press conference, when asked about the attitude of President Erdogan, during his meeting with the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Italian technocratic prime minister underlined:

“I do not share in any way the views of President Erdogan. I do not think that was the right thing to do, and I was very saddened by the humiliation that Commission President von der Leyen had to accept. We must say that with these dictators – let’s call them properly – with whom there is a need to cooperate, we must be clear: Expressing our disagreement, in terms of views, attitudes, our views in terms of society, but at the same time to be ready to cooperate, with the aim of the interest of our country. That’s important, we have to find the right balance. “
