THE Mario Draghi spoke to the Italian Senate in order to support the reasons he wanted to resign as Prime Minister of the country, but on his second asked to receive a vote of confidence.
The Italian prime minister said that “thank you to those who supported our government. Our democracy is parliamentary, I respect and recognize it, I did not ask for full powers, I asked for the support of parliament. I said that we started a dialogue on the minimum wage and we will continue it with unions and entrepreneurs.”
“As for the unemployment benefit, I think it’s something positive, but when it doesn’t work efficiently, it’s negative. I ask for a vote of confidencebased on the proposal of Senator Pierferdinando Cazzini, which foresees the unhindered continuation of the government work”, he then added.
Thus, he rejected, in this way, the request of the center-right (Lega and Forza Italia) for a renegotiation of the government program and a change of part of the ministers. At the same time, he sent to Five Stars the message that he does not mean to give further “explanations”, regarding the implementation of measures such as the unemployment benefit and state incentives for the renovation of buildings.
