The Italian press speaks of an act of solidarity with Ukraine on the occasion of the forthcoming visit of the three European leaders. Trying to find a solution in cereals as well.
In Italy, everyone takes it for granted that tomorrow Mario Draghi, Olaf Solz and Emanuel Macron will go to Kyiv. In a detailed article, Berlusconi’s Il Giornale newspaper writes today that it will be a visit that will go down in history.
That is, a clear message will be sent to Putin with a tangible act of solidarity with Ukraine. “But we are also talking about a move that is very important for Germany to understand that its needs must be in line with the common, European interest,” the Italian newspaper added.
According to Rome media, the visit is expected to last about ten hours, with a huge effort by the secret services of the three European countries to ensure the safety of their leaders.
Alternative routes for wheat
“What remains to be seen is whether Draghi, Macron and Soltz will continue to unreservedly support the Ukrainian resistance or whether they will start referring to some kind of compromise,” Il Giornale added. “According to Paolo Maggi, head of the Italian Institute for the Study of International Politics, Europeans are no longer willing to pay the full cost of the war demanded by Zelenski.”
At the same time, several Italian analysts note that the presence tomorrow in Kyiv of Romanian President Klaus Johannes could perhaps help find a solution to the wheat that remains in storage. With a possible transfer, not from the ports of the Black Sea, but through an alternative route from the Danube.
Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, again speaking, called on Israel to create safe corridors for the transportation of grain, in order to avoid a huge food crisis and reminded that “we now have only a few days”. His new appeal, however, does not seem to have moved Moscow.
