Drake cancels show at Lollapalooza hours before performance; Skrillex takes the place

Canadian singer Drake has decided to cancel his performance on Sunday night (26) at the Lollapalooza festival. The show by the rapper, performer of hits such as “Hotline Bling”, “One Dance” and “God’s Plan”, was supposed to close the event that has been taking place at the Interlagos Circuit, in São Paulo, since last Friday. He had no other shows scheduled in Brazil.

The third day of Lolla also features international attractions such as Catalan Rosalía and DJ Fred Again. At the same time that Drake would perform on the Budweiser stage, the band Cigarettes After Sex will occupy the Adidas stage.

The festival has suffered from a series of cancellations this year. Six artists have given up on the stage of Lollapalooza Brasil so far: Willow, Dominic Fike, Blink-182, Omar Apollo, 100 Gecs and Drake.

The absence of the band Blink-182 was felt by the public on Saturday. The artists attracted fans of pop punk, rock and emo, who have followed the group’s career since the 1990s. They canceled their trip to Brazil after drummer Travis Baker needed surgery after tearing ligaments in his fingers in a rehearsal. The Americans of Twenty Øne Piløts were called up for the vacancy, and they divided opinions.
