The rapper Drake is among the millions of people who contracted Covid-19 last year and who are still struggling with some of the negative effects of the virus.
The 34-year-old star revealed that she contracted it and had problems with hair loss, one of the very common symptoms of long covid. It seems that even now it is suffering the effects and that finally the situation is improving.
The revelations were made by the star to one of his fans on Instagram when he wrote a comment on the state of his heart shaved at the hairline: “That heart is stressed.”
“I had the covid and the drawing has grown back strange, so much so that I have to do it all over again”, the singer would have replied as reported by People.
Drake was one of the first to report having a tampon because in March 2020 he had been in contact with Kevin Durant, who tested positive for covid. But then the singer said he tested negative.
Temporary hair loss as a side effect of covid is a very common symptom reported by 33% of patients with the virus, according to a recently updated study conducted by the University of Indiana. Hair loss above normal, called telogen effluvium, is usually a consequence of strong stress that acts on the resting phase of the hair’s life cycle, known as telogen, and covid is one of the known causes of stress for the body.
Drake wasn’t the only celebrity to make it known that hair loss was a consequence of covid, even the actress Alyssa Milano opened up about extreme hair loss and a clouded mind as the long-term consequences of contracting the virus.
