Dramatic increase in homicide in Ecuador – In the first seven months of 2025 the dead exceeded 5,200

By 40.36% in the first seven months of this year, homicides in Ecuador has increased compared to the corresponding period of 2024, indicating evidence published by the Latin American Interior Ministry yesterday Thursday. With 5,268 recorded homicides, it was the most crowded seven -month period recorded at least in the last decade. Last year, 3,753 homicides were recorded. The victims were mostly between 25 and 34 years old, according to ministry data, while most of the murders were made using firearms. The dramatic increase in homicides in the country, sometimes an oasis of peace and tranquility in the region, is recorded despite the efforts of President Daniel Noboa’s government to press the gangs by declaring the country into a state of “internal armed conflict”.
