A video captures the dramatic moments that a mother in Cambodia she saves her child seconds before the ceiling of her house collapses. The incident happened in the capital Phnom Penh on July 3, after Pip Srey – who runs a shop in the same building – finished her work for the day, according to Viral Press.
The video begins with Srey holding a baby and standing next to three small children in a room.
There is a sound and Srey and two of the children start running screaming. Srey, still holding the baby, then runs back and pulls a child left behind in a baby carriage to safety.
The ceiling above her and the children then fell to the ground.
“He would have died if the roof had fallen on him. It was just my instinct to run away when I saw the roof falling in,” Srey said according to Viral Press. “Something made me look back and I saw him there, so I ran and grabbed him.”
The news agency reported that builders who later repaired the building blamed the roof collapse on poor construction and recent heavy rains that weakened the structure.

“There was no waterproofing in the original plans of the house. All the rains made the ceiling weaker. This is due to poor construction,” one of the builders told Viral Press. “People should be aware of this when they buy houses, as one day they may collapse, just like what happened here,” he added.
