«Dream makers», the redemption of women who have emerged from a nightmare

Among them there are also those who have suffered violence, abuse, who found themselves in serious economic difficulties. All have behind them painful situations, particularly complicated, which they have been able to cut thanks to female empowerment project “Manufacturers of dreams“, Made with the collaboration between Intesa Sanpaolo, Caritas Ambrosiana Onlus Foundation, S. Carlo Foundation onlus and the Italian fashion brand laMILANESA.

The project involves the creation of a laboratory, lasting 6 months, within which women learn crochet, so as to offer a little loving help to give them new dignity and, through a new insertion into the working world, freedom.

“Sometimes, if I look back, I think I haven’t been able to make it”, comments Cinzia Macchi, designer from MILANESA. “But yes: dreams can come true. laMILANESA was born from a dream: that of being able to create a “laboratory” where to teach women who have suffered violence or who find themselves in a difficult situation a profession, to be reintegrated into the working world and have a second chance to be independent and happy . Thanks to the other partners in the project, we were able to give birth to “Fabricators of Dreams” and we have recently started the workshop with the first women involved. What used to be a hope has now become a splendid reality ».

With the start of the first phase of experimentation in Milan at the end of September, this advanced tailoring training course aims to offer women with stories of pain a prospect of entering the world of work and regaining their autonomy. But there is more: the project thus generates a virtuous network capable of creating social value, female empowerment and ensuring the sustainability of the interventions, through the recovery of traditional crafts with haute couture techniques and the use of natural fabrics, while enhancing made in Italy fashion.
