Drive launches driver profile: with overspeed and sloppy driving marks

Yandex representatives spoke about adding a driver profile in the Drive application, which will be created based on an analysis of a person’s behavior and his driving style. An algorithm created by the company will analyze the last 200 km that the driver has driven, taking into account harsh braking or starting from a standstill, excessively steep cornering, excessive speed, sloppy driving and other important factors. All these violations will be indicated in the user profile, and based on the data received, a driver profile with a visual scale that has a color and status will be created.

This scale tends to change if the driver began to drive more carefully or, for example, on the contrary, began to violate traffic rules more often. And, of course, on the basis of this scale, the driver will receive the appropriate conditions for access to the service. The company said that at the moment 90% of users of “Drive” have received the status of “good driver” – they drive carefully, without creating a threat on the road, so a new loyalty program will be implemented for them. It is likely that the price of the trip for motorists with good status will be slightly lower. But for reckless drivers, Yandex has bad news – they will have to pay more for the trip.

If the user drives inaccurately enough, the algorithm will determine this and the “Drive” application will point out to the person his mistakes. If they are not corrected, and the driving style remains the same, then the user will be marked as a driver with a high risk of accidents, which means that the cost of renting vehicles in the service will be higher for him. The cost of insurance will also rise, as the user has a higher chance of getting into an accident. In addition, if the driver, even after these notifications, does not stop driving aggressively and with violations, “Drive” will block his access to the service.
