Driven by diesel and gasoline, fuel sales hit a record in the country in 2021

Even with the Covid-19 pandemic, Brazil set a record in fuel sales last year, totaling 139.5 billion liters, the largest volume in the historical series started in 2000 by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels ( ANP), and an increase of 6% compared to 2020, the first year of the disease.

If only the sum of ethanol, gasoline and diesel is taken into account, the result was also a record, of 118 billion liters, with emphasis on diesel, derived from oil with the highest sales volume in the country, or 62.1 billion liters. liters.

The volume is record and almost double what was sold 21 years ago (35 billion liters). Compared to last year, diesel sales rose 8.1%.

Gasoline sales totaled 39.3 billion liters in 2021, or 9.7% more than in 2020, which confirms the return of urban mobility, after the height of the pandemic.

Ethanol sales fell 13% year-on-year to 16.7 billion liters, well below the record 22 billion liters in 2019.

Likewise, sales of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) declined by 1% year-on-year, totaling 13.4 billion cubic meters, practically stable compared to 2021.

Sales of aviation kerosene (QAV) continued below average, but 22.8% above last year’s performance, totaling 4.3 billion liters, according to data collected by the ANP.
