A head-on collision between a truck, loaded with empty bags for packaging coffee, and a passenger vehicle, left one person dead on Monday afternoon (28), at MGC-491, in Guaranésia (MG).
According to the Minas Gerais Fire Department, witnesses reported that the truck was heading towards Guaxupé when, for reasons yet to be clarified by the technical expertise of the Civil Police, it collided head-on with the passenger car that was traveling in the opposite direction.
The two vehicles were badly destroyed by the impact of the crash and ended up on the side of the road.
The driver of the car, aged 46, from the city of Guaranésia, was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene.
The truck driver, despite the severity of the accident and the condition of the vehicles, was not injured. He was treated by the rescue team and released at the scene.
The Military Highway Police were called to control traffic and isolate the area. One of the lanes had to be closed to remove the vehicles.
The victim’s body was extricated by firefighters and taken to the region’s funeral home.
