Driver involved in pileup in SP refused to take a breathalyzer test, says secretariat

One of the drivers involved in the pileup this Sunday morning (10) in the city of São Paulo had an expired driver’s license (CNH) and refused to take a breathalyzer test, according to the Public Security Secretariat.

The collision happened in Sacomã, a neighborhood in the south of São Paulo, at around 6 am.

Two cars — one was a luxury SUV — failed to stop at a red light and hit four cars that were stopped.

The driver had a clinical examination requested from the Legal Medical Institute (IML). The driver of the other car took a breathalyzer test, which came back negative. The SSP did not indicate which of the two was driving the luxury car.

One person was rescued by the Fire Department, but the severity of the injuries has not yet been disclosed.
