Driver run over and kill pedestrian in Guarulhos and runs away without helping

A 38-year-old man was arrested in the morning at dawn on Friday (11) for running over and killing a pedestrian on Tiradentes Avenue in downtown Guarulhos, Greater São Paulo. According to police, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.

According to witnesses from the site, the accident was caused by an Audi brand vehicle. Arriving at the scene, the military police found Cristiano Almeida da Cruz, with no vital signs. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) team found the man’s death on site.

According to the registration of the occurrence, the driver, identified as Erik Rodrigo Batista, stopped briefly to observe the victim and then fled the scene without providing help. After steps from the Military Police, the suspect was located, seized and subsequently admitted to consuming alcohol, but refused to test the alcohol.

The expertise was called and Erik will be responsible for omission of help, drunk driving and murder. The case was registered in the 1st DP of the city.
