A man ran over and killed a pedestrian in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, on the night of last Saturday (13). After causing the accident, the driver fled the scene without providing assistance.
According to the Military Police, the accident occurred on Avenida Lúcio Costa. A person who was near the area was the one who called the authorities and reported that the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident fled without providing assistance to the victim.
The Fire Department reported having been called to the scene, in front of the Cdesign hotel, at around 11:40 pm. The victim is Fábio Toshiro Kikuta, 42 years old, who did not survive the impact of the accident and died before the ambulance arrived.
After searching for the suspect in the region, military police located the perpetrator’s car, but he was not found.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that they requested the man’s arrest from the Court, which was later accepted.
Investigations are ongoing to locate the suspect at the 42nd Police Station in Recreio dos Bandeirantes.
