Driver Diones Coelho da Silva, who ran over actor Kayky Brito at the beginning of September, vented on his social networks last Wednesday (18). In a peaceful tone, he stated that he will not comment further on the case after an interview citing the accident became public. This is because Diones stated that he tried to meet the actor, but was ignored since Sthefany Brito’s brother was discharged from the hospital.
The statement was given to the portal IG People and due to the repercussion of his statement, the driver spoke out online. “About the case, and about the person Kayky, I don’t want to say anything more! From today onwards I want to turn this page! I wish him and the whole family all the best! I wish him an excellent recovery, and all the success in the world, in the name of the Lord Jesus! I want to get on with my life, get well so I can drive again, and go back to work. I have no resentment in my heart for anyone, nor for any comment on the internet. I continue to love each one.”, began Diones.
An app driver, he managed to recover his car with the financial help of internet users. Diones revealed that he was unable to work, as the vehicle was damaged by the collision, and decided to start a fundraiser online. The collection ended when it reached the amount of R$178 thousand and the driver declared that he would donate basic food baskets with part of the amount. Although he managed to get more money than necessary to repair his car, Diones still revealed on his networks that he was unable to drive again due to the trauma of the accident.
At the end of his most recent outburst, he concluded: “Let’s live with love, less hate, less judgement! Because we are all prone to mistakes. Therefore, love people more, live a lighter life, with moderation and empathy! The world needs this, the world needs Jesus.”
The accident
Kayky Brito was run over in the early hours of September 2nd, on Avenida Lucio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio. Although the app driver, Diones da Silva, was within the speed limit allowed on the road, he did not managed to brake when the actor ran across the pedestrian crossing. Kayky Brito suffered head trauma and multiple fractures throughout the body. He was hospitalized until September 29th, at Copa D’Or Hospital, in Rio de Janeiro.
