In a custody hearing held last Thursday (11), Judge Marco Mattos Sestini stated that student Brendo dos Santos Sampaio, 26, acted with “disrespect and lack of empathy” by running over and killing two 18-year-olds in São Caetano do Sul (SP). The accident occurred the day before.
At the hearing, the magistrate converted the arrest in the act of Brendo to pre -trial detention. Isabelli Helena de Lima Costa and Isabela Priel Regis crossed the avenue in the pedestrian range when they were hit by the car
“It is possibly ‘crack’ between vehicles in the middle of the public road, a conduct that can be characterized as double homicide with eventual intent. There is news that the accused was at very high speed, which resulted in the death of two people,” says the judge.
The magistrate pointed out that “the accused’s car was full modified to generate more power in acceleration, with two sports exhaust, implying that he participates in ‘crack’.”
“In any case, disrespect and lack of empathy with other people, as well as contempt for social rules and coexistence prevent their release at this time. The accused, before the narrated, would not have care about the consequences of his conduct, believing in impunity,” says the judge, in the decision.
In a statement, Brendo lawyers claim that he provided help immediately after the accident and would not have seen the victims, as the traffic light, according to the defense, was red for them.
