The Federal Government announced this Monday (9) the creation of the Positive National Register of Drivers (RNPC), where drivers who have not committed traffic violations in the last twelve months will be.
The driver registered with the RNPC may receive tax or tariff benefits, but the text does not specify how these advantages will be, only that it will be “in the form of the specific legislation of each entity of the Federation.”
The adhesion to this registration will be the responsibility of the driver, who will need to authorize its inclusion through an application or website to be defined by Contran.
Also according to the publication signed by Contran, the RNPC will come into force in the next 180 days.
The driver will be excluded from the RNPC under the following conditions:
- per driver’s request
- when the driver is fined for a traffic violation
- when the driver has the right to drive suspended
- when the driver’s license is revoked or expired for more than 30 days
- if the registered person is serving a custodial sentence.
In 2020, President Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned changes to the Traffic Code that increased the validity and point limit for the suspension of the National Driver’s License.
