Drought, the hypothesis of water rationing even during the day

Near forty degrees detected and over perceived in most of Italy. There are desert temperatures and it still doesn’t rain. There is not even a rain forecast. “We are 40-50% less rainwater than the average of recent years and up to 70% less snow”, explained the head of Civil Protection, Fabrizio Curcio to Sky Tg24.

In many municipalities there are already rules for limiting the use of water. They could be extensive. In Milan, the anti-waste ordinance of the mayor Sala: emptied fountains and closed shop doors. There are limitations in Lombardy, Piedmont, Friuli, Trentino and Emilia-Romagna. There are suspended supplies at night, bans on car washing, pool filling, but also bans on watering gardens or making a second shampoo for hairdressers.

The photograph clearly comes from the rivers, especially the Bit. In the image published byEuropean Space Agency we can clearly see the decrease of the largest Italian river. The head of the Civil Protection also explains: «We have rivers such as the Po, for example, one of the most important rivers nationwide for the life that develops around that river, which has a flow rate of up to 80% less. So we have a generalized situation of shortage of water resources, therefore a general shortage of rain. In some areas it has an absolutely important impact at the agricultural level, at the fish level, as well as the production of electricity. The situation is generally complex throughout the country ». A possible state of emergency at the national level is being discussed.
