Drug boss from the Vila Kennedy community is arrested in Rio de Janeiro

Marcelo Cardoso, known as “Pezão”, head of drug trafficking in the Vila Kennedy community, was arrested by police officers from the 34th DP, in Bangu, in Barra da Tijuca, west zone of Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday (17).

According to investigations, Marcelo had left the Vila Kennedy community after an action by the Military Police (PM) there. According to the police, the drug boss would be moving to Rocinha or the Jardim Primavera community, in the municipality of Duque de Caxias, places with crime leaders.

Investigations showed that Pezão has an extensive criminal record with more than 20 notes. In 2009, he was imprisoned for 11 months, following a Civil Police operation.

Marcelo Pezão is considered an arm of the Red Command, having commanded the invasion of Morro dos Macacos in 2009, which ended with six deaths, including Dani da Rocinha.

Pezão had been on the run since 2022, after an arrest warrant was issued by the criminal execution court.
