Drug dealer known as Gatinha da Cracolândia leaves prison

The 6th Panel of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) granted last Tuesday (13) habeas corpus to Lorainne Cutier Bauer Romeiro, known as Gatinha da Cracolândia. She had prison replaced by precautionary measures.

Lorainne was sentenced to five years in prison under closed regime. She was accused of drug trafficking after being arrested in the act on June 30, 2021 in the region known as Cracolândia, in the center of São Paulo. She denied the accusations.

After the decision, Lorraine posted videos on her social networks celebrating the release.

Lorraine’s defense asked the Justice to extend to her the effects of a habeas corpus granted to another defendant in the process, which was accepted.

The rapporteur of the case, Minister Sebastião Reis Júnior, granted the request, according to him, “notably for not pointing out individualized and concrete elements, regarding participation in an armed criminal organization, demonstrating that their freedom would pose a risk to public order”.

The precautionary measures that will be imposed on Lorraine will be determined by the 2nd Tax Crimes, Criminal Organization and Laundering of Assets and Values of São Paulo.
