Drug laboratory is dismantled and the number of rifles seized in Bahia rises to 73

In an intelligence action against a faction, in Salvador, the Bahia Security Forces dismantled a drug laboratory and seized three rifles. With this, the number of heavy weapons withdrawn from circulation in the state so far rises to 73. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon (29).

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the latest cases were in the neighborhoods of Itapuã and Alto do Cabrito, both in the capital of Bahia. Two men and a woman ended up arrested red-handed.

In Itapuã, in the property used by the criminal organization to manufacture and store drugs, firearms were also distributed to other members of the group. At this location, the police discovered two 5.56 caliber rifles, in addition to seizing around 150 kg of marijuana and cocaine, a hydraulic press, scales, a banknote counting machine and a vehicle with a high market value.

In the Alto do Cabrito region, the criminals ran from the garrisons and abandoned another 5.56 caliber rifle, also a charger, ammunition and portions of drugs.

The department’s secretary, Marcelo Werner, stated that he will remain firm against organized crime in Bahia. “There will be 73 rifles removed from the hands of drug traffickers and 19 drug laboratories dismantled in 2024,” he said.
