Drunk man is arrested after crashing into poles with car stolen from federal agency in Tocantins

A 31-year-old man was arrested after stealing an official vehicle from the Superintendency of the Union’s Heritage in Tocantins (SPU) and causing an accident in the Arse 131 region, in Palmas, on the morning of last Sunday (8). Drunk, the driver collided with two poles.

According to the Civil Police, the perpetrator worked as a mechanic’s assistant in the workshop where the vehicle had been left for maintenance of the air conditioning system.

The SPU reported that the car had been left at the workshop last Tuesday (3) and that the man has no connection with this Superintendency. The vehicle was recovered after the accident by the Military Police.

The man was arrested and taken to the 1st Civil Police Service Center, where he was charged with theft and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was then taken to the Palmas Penal Unit.

The Traffic Crimes Repression Police Station (DRCT – Palmas) will be responsible for investigating the accident and investigating the damage caused to public property.

Furthermore, the Federal Police will begin an investigation to determine the circumstances of the theft and accident.
