Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum 30, princess of Dubai, went viral when she used social media this week to expose her husband and ask for nothing less than a divorce. Mahra married the businessman and sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum in 2023. The two recently had a daughter.
In a post on Instagram, the princess made it clear that she wants a divorce because her husband is “busy with other companies”. “Dear husband, as you are busy with other companies, I declare our divorce,” she wrote. “Take care of yourself. Your ex-wife,” she added.
In the post, Mahra wrote the phrase “I divorce” three times, referring to a well-known practice called “triple talaq”. In Dubai, until 2017, men were allowed to divorce by saying the phrase three times.
The post went viral on Thursday (19) and gained thousands of comments and repercussions. “Come on princess, you deserve to be queen for this outcome!” commented one user. “These men, all the same, all over the world,” pointed out another.
“Well done, princesses do it this way!” wrote one profile. “The world is with you,” supported another.
Who is Mahra Al Maktoum
Mahra is the daughter of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, current Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE since 2006. The princess’ family is said to be one of the richest in the entire Middle East.
