“During my musical career, I have been through numerous situations in which my position as a father was exposed and discussed without my consent. I have always overlooked and tried to keep the focus of my public life on my career as a musician, singer and songwriter.
I, to this day, have kept silent in the face of all the lies and slander I have read about myself. But yesterday, while my daughter was on the stand, I was surprised by the news that there were people granting live interviews and speaking on subjects that should remain confidential.
As a parent, it was the biggest sadness I’ve ever felt, not being able to protect her from such an invasion of privacy. So, for the first time, I speak on a subject that should be private.
I’m on my family’s side for everything they need and I don’t need to expose the size of my pain here. I need to be strong to support my daughter and defend her from anything that could hurt her.
So, therefore, I come to ask you once again to respect our pain and especially her pain. Don’t share anything that exposes her, please. I believe in Justice. And I believe that everything will be cleared up and those responsible will be punished.”
