Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and current president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), will face each other in the second round of presidential elections on October 30th. Bolsonaro will have the challenge of reversing the advantage obtained by PT in the vote this Sunday (2), something unprecedented in the history of disputes for the Planalto in two rounds, but the difference ended up being smaller than what the electoral polls pointed out.
The first round also defined the reelection of governors in 12 states, including Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Pará and Amazonas. Another 12 states will have a second round, in a list that includes São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Pernambuco and Ceará. In Congress, the PL will have the largest bench in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an assessment of the first round of the 2022 elections and the prospects for the next few weeks of the campaign until the final round of voting on October 30th.
To provide an overview of the results of the first round of elections, this episode brings together the main moments of the October 2 vote counting and the first indications of what we can expect from the campaign for the second round.
